Welcome to our blog. Here we try to capture our lives memories and projects through photography; we humbly present these for others pleasure and inspiration. Most photos are taken with our Nikon D60; other photos are typically noted. The blog title is a take on our last name, pronounced with a silent 'p'.

Black and white? Our camera can filter out all colors but one, not sure if yours does that, but it might be cool. Ours has several special effects on the camera itself. Does it have a panorama setting? Just some ideas... I'll try to think of more...
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if the camera can or not - I will take a look into that. (At least for February) I would like to do everything just straight from the camera with no computer editing. All pictures displayed on my blog so far have been straight from shoot to screen.
Deleteyeah, I'm not sure if your camera itself does that, I just know that ours does. Does yours have a panorama setting? Our Sony camera can take a panoramic shot that I've found to be really cool.
DeleteSome ideas to consider: Motion (extremely difficult), natural landscapes, low light, geometric shapes and lines, people (especially children and getting the right angle/perspective), changing the way you view any given object, reflections, self-portraits.
ReplyDeleteAlso try checking out photo forums like Fre Miranda and looking through their weekly contests for ideas http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/26
I have been looking at incorporating some of these ideas into my shoots. I have done some different things to use some of these (low light, different motions). I am trying to come up with some good geometric shape shots. I got some people going on the 11. The children (or people in general) has been harder because I need subjects.
DeleteClear night, no or minimal moon at exposure time, tripod, time lapsed, shoot some star streaks, you will get some natural star color and see the circular motion of their travel (earth rotation). You can set it up on your balcony, lapse it for 1 or 2 hours and walk away. I did some star streaks with my 35mm SLR years ago, and they always came out cool.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about star streaks, but I haven't learned (and am not sure if) my camera will go longer than a 30 second exposure. I have seen some things saying to get a special lens or editing software for it.
