I went to a lake today thinking I might capture some self-portrait/reflection shots on the water surface. It ended up being breezy so the water surface was not calm enough. There were ducks nesting in some bushes and about a half dozen geese there as well. I decided to try and capture the birds in action: either flying, landing or just flapping their wings. Besides capturing the birds in action, the shots also show what a beautiful day it is in Southern California in the middle of winter. I was in manual mode on the camera so I had to adjust for the brightness and reflection of the sun off of the water. My first few shots came out to bright but I think my adjustments came out nicely.
The first one is of a seagull that I coaxed off of a rock. I caught it in flight but it's harder to see with the other birds underneath.
I had taken some standing shots of the geese earlier and then they went to the other side of the lake. After trying to capture the ducks flapping their wings (I think as some form of preening) I noticed the geese flying back. Unfortunately I did not have the zoom lens on so I couldn't zoom that close, but I was able to capture some good shots of the geese landing on the water.
