Our tripod arrived yesterday so I decided to experiment with it a little bit. A few months ago I worked with my father-in-law to put in a rock fountain in their backyard. I decided to take some long exposure shots of the water (>1 second) to make use of the tripod. Without a tripod these shots would appear blurry, particularly with my unsteady hands. Taking the shots was quite a learning experience; I had to mess around with shutter speed, lighting and angling a lot. At first I tried taking pictures of the splash off the rock but settled on taking pictures of the water coming out of the fountain. I ended using the zoom lens for the final shots. I took four shots at different shutter speeds - from top to bottom: 5, 10, 15 and 20 seconds. I think it looks like a fog machine.
I feel like I have some room for improvement with these shots, but like where it ended up compared to my initial attempts today.
